Thank you to everyone who entered the video contest!
We will be announcing the winners on 3/28/21!
Purpose: For someone to create the next FrightVision video that we can use to tell the world about what FrightVision is all about!
Who can enter: Anyone! There will be a KIDS’ DIVISION and an OVERALL DIVISION.
Kids’ Division (12 and under): In order to enter and win this division, the videos MUST be created by a kid (12 and under) and feature a kid or kids. It can be as simple or elaborate as you choose--the kids can be talking about the books, acting something out, or anything your imagination can create—have fun with it! Kids MUST have their parent or guardian’s permission before entering.
Overall Division: In order to enter and win this division, the videos can be created by anyone (kids or adults) and there are no requirements for what to feature in your video about FrightVision.
You may use images, logos, books, items related to FrightVision, etc. from the FrightVision website (www.FrightVisionBooks.com) or social media pages (@FrightVisionBooks) for this video contest.
*HOWEVER, if your video is deemed inappropriate, you will be asked to take it down and if you refuse, you could be in violation of copyrights.
FrightVision will reach out at different points during the contest and ask for file versions of the videos so that we will be able to use/share any of the videos entered on our pages during the contest or at a later date. We will always give credit to the person(s) who created the video, but FrightVision retains all rights to any video contest submissions and the videos can be used however FrightVision chooses.

4) **BE SURE to tag @FrightVisionBooks (the more likes, shares, and comments you get will factor into your overall score to win)! **

Rules: The video must be less than one minute and be about FrightVision. You cannot use copyrighted work from places outside of FrightVision (i.e. graphics, characters, music, etc. If you have questions about this, please contact us via the FrightVision website—www.FrightVisionBooks.com).
You do not need to have read any of the FrightVision books (though it might help) and there is no purchase necessary. Have fun with it AND please note, this is a middle grade book series aimed at kids 7-12 years old, so inappropriate content will not be tolerated. We will remove and report posts if necessary.
Awards & Prizes for the Contest: A group of judges, including Culliver Crantz (the creator of the FrightVision series), will go through the videos and choose a top 3 (based on scoring) for the overall division and a top 3 (based on scoring) for the kids’ division.
*Monetary Prizes will be paid via PayPal in USD.
1st place (overall division) $200
2nd place (overall division) $100
3rd place (overall division) $50
1st place (kids’ division) $100
2nd place (kids’ division) $50
3rd place (kids’ division) $25
There can be a winner from the kids’ division who also finishes in the overall top 3 and wins multiple awards, however, someone who is not a kid cannot win both prizes.
The contest ends on 3/21/2021 and all videos must be posted by this time (and include the submission hashtag: #FVFilmFest21). Winners will be announced on 3/28/2021.
Scoring will be based on two parts:
Social Media Reach (likes, shares, reposts, comments, etc.) = 25% of total score
Judges’ Score (10 categories, each worth 100 points—1,000 total points) = 75% of score
Judges’ Categories: 1) Incorporation of FrightVision into your video, 2) How well the video represents FrightVision, 3) Originality, 4) Fun Factor, 5) Creativity, 6) Visual Effects, 7) Spookiness, 8) Sound, 9) Editing, and 10) Overall score.
Minimum Score: There will be a minimum score requirement to qualify for winning the contest.
For social media reach, the minimum score is 10, meaning you must have any sort of combination of ten points resulting from likes on the post, comments, or shares/reposts.
For the judges’ portion, the minimum score is 250 out of 1,000, meaning you must get 250 points out of the possible 1,000 resulting from the above categories to qualify for the prizes.
For example, if you get 500 as your total social media reach and 925/1,000 judges’ points, your overall score would be: 125 + 693.75 = 818.75.
If you get 10 Social Media Reach points but a perfect Judges’ Score of 1000 points, you will still get 752.5 points—please note: 10 points is the minimum social media reach score for the video to qualify for a prize.
*The highest score wins!
Full Terms of the Contest:
Films must be less than 1 minute.
Every person can submit up to 3 films (top video per person will be the one scored, an entrant cannot win multiple times with different videos).
In order to participate in the “FrightVision Film Fest”, the candidate fully accepts the following Regulations:
Videos posted that are to be part of the contest, must be in accordance with the terms of these Regulations and satisfy the following requirements:
Length: maximum one minute, including titles, end credits.
Media: MP4, MOV (we will request file versions of films that make it to the scoring round).
Language: English.
Number of movies allowed: maximum of three submissions per entrant.
The entrant represents that the work posted to their social media accounts (and all its contents) is their property or that they are the owner of all rights (other than the FrightVision material from the website, as long as that is used only for the FrightVision Film Fest).
The entrant agrees to indemnify and hold harmless FrightVision from all claims, demands and/or legal actions by third parties who claim ownership and/or rights to any of the material used in entrant’s video.
To enter a video into the contest, one must post the video to their Facebook, Instagram, or TikTok accounts. Accounts must be set to public for the duration of the contest.
An entrant can post their video to each of their acceptable social media accounts (Facebook, Instagram, TikTok) and all of the social media interactions will be counted toward judging. However, only ONE post per video per social media site will be counted. This means that you can post your video on Instagram, Facebook, and TikTok and each of the likes, comments, shares, reposts, etc. will count toward judging. However, 2 posts about the same video on Instagram will not count for extra points with judging; only the post with the most likes, comments, and shares will count in that scenario.
Please contact us with any questions.
The FrightVision Film Fest is free to enter.
By entering you grant FrightVision the right to post, share, and use the video that is created for the contest at any point, even well after the contest is over. FrightVision will give credit to whoever created the video and tag them, but there will be no royalty or compensation for the video (other than potential contest winnings).
The entrant acknowledges and accepts that all the decisions, evaluations and/or judgements made in the contest are of a purely discretionary nature and as such cannot be challenged, and thus, the entrant waives any appeal.
